Ever changing government Waste Legislation means that it is now essential for companies and public organisations to minimise their waste output and plan their waste management strategies, with the same level of commitment that would be given to aspects such as Health & Safety.

Irish Waste Management Legislation

The Waste Management Act 1996, the Waste Management (Amendment) 2001 Act and a series of regulations that address particular requirements such as WEEE, Batteries, end-of Life Vehicles and Packaging provide a comprehensive statutory framework for the management of waste in Ireland.

The Waste Management Act 1996

The Waste Management Act 1996 outlines the responsibilities of the EPA and local authorities for the regulation of waste in Ireland and the collection and disposal of household waste.

The Waste Management (Amendment) Act 2001

The 2001 Act enabled the introduction of both the plastic bag levy and the landfill levy and introduced a process for the development of regional waste management plans.
