Avoid impulse buying. Buy only what you need.
- Buy in bulk or buy loose unpackaged items to reduce the amount of packaging you take home or buy items with packaging that can be reused or recycled.
- Buy products that are reusable or made from recycled materials.
- Use refillable and rechargeable products e.g. refillable ink pen, rechargeable batteries and cameras.
- Avoid buying disposable nappies, razors and tissues.
- Use a Compost bin or Worm Farm to turn your food scraps and garden waste into fertiliser.
- Recycle paper, glass, plastic, cans and tetra-paks.
- Put a ‘No Junk Mail’ sticker on your letterbox.
- Give your old clothes, books, toys and furniture to charity or second hand shops.
- Avoid using plastic bags by taking reusable shopping bags with you to the shops.
